We have just received the following update from CalMac, advising of further delays to the Coruisk, and the impact on the Mallaig-Armadale service.

BEGINS

Mallaig-Armadale

Good afternoon,

Unfortunately, MV Hebrides return to service has been delayed after an issue was identified with the vessel’s starboard gearbox during post-overhaul commissioning. The gearbox was overhauled by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) as part of the planned programme of work for MV Hebrides’ drydock and the issue arose during routine run-in testing over the weekend. We are liaising with the OEM on next steps.

With the timescales for repairs currently unknown and to provide certainty to customers, the intention is to extend the current deployment plan until Sunday 26 April.

On Mallaig-Armadale, this means charter vessels operating in place of MV Coruisk. We only have a passenger charter available from tomorrow up to and including Friday and then on Sunday, with no vehicle charters available. We’re unable to offer a service on Saturday due to lack of available charters.

I am very sorry about the ongoing disruption and impact this is having on Mallaig-Armadale services.
