The Group received the below update from the CalMac Area Manager today.
“I’m sorry to advise you that the Loch Bhrusda is being redeployed to cover the Sound of Harris from Monday 13th July for a week. She will be departing Mallaig on Sunday 12th to reposition. MV Loch Portain has had a vibration issue we’ve been managing for some time. The OEM for the gearbox has recently reviewed our vibration analysis and advised us to remove the vessel from service quickly to avoid damaging the gearboxes.
We are currently organising charter vessels to cover the Small Isles for their Saturday service. The Coruisk will run a one vessel service to Armadale for a week. Our teams in the ports will be contacting affected customers.
I am sorry for the issues and inconvenience this will cause especially in the high of the season.”
We will update everyone with more information about how long this is likely to last as soon as we receive it.
